Sew Swansea
Unit 11,
Elysium Studios,
34a Orchard Street, Swansea,

This weekend class will help you understand commercial dressmaking patterns and get help with fitting and finishing.

This course is for people with some sewing experience who want to understand patterns and make their own garment

We understand that it's tempting to pick something fancy to make as your first project, but we strongly recommend you go for a simple pattern that you feel you will be able to make in two days!
We recommend the following;

Please bring along a suitable dress pattern and the correct amount/type of fabric for your project, the correct hardwear (buckles, zips, buttons) required, matching thread and any notions - elastic, trims, interfacing, that your pattern request.  - if you'd like some pre-understanding of using patterns prior to this class why not attend our Learn to read sewing patterns, evening class.

We recommend picking something in a woven cotton, non-stretch fabric (no jersey or stretch fabrics please!)

To attend this class you need to be confident in the following;
Machine sewing - including threading
Inserting zips, making button holes etc.

This class runs 4 x 3 hour sessions over 2 days
(10am-5pm with a 1 hour lunch break)
Please ensure you bring food with you.

Sew & Fit - dressmaking weekend

Dates Available
  • If you would like to pay 50% deposit now and the remainder before the start of the course, please contact me to arrange this.

    Please note that Intermediate classes are not suitable for beginners you must be confident in machine use or have completed our Beginners Basics class and a follow on class to attend an intermediate workshop. If you book yourself onto an intermediate class without the prior skill requirement you will not be able to participate and will lose your fee.

    PLEASE do not bring fabric that has a stripe, check or directional print. You want something with a scattered pattern if using a print - this is somply becuase we do not have time over the weekend for pattern matching and it requires addtional fabric depending on the size of the print and pattern repeat. If you're unsure on fabric type or amount please get in touch

    This class runs over two day long sessions (over a weekend) Both sessions are 10am-5pm with a  break in between for you to pop out and get lunch or bring some with you. You need to attend both days of this workshop.

    By booking onto this workshop you are confirming you have read, understood and agree to our Workshop Policies.

    Tea and biscuits will be on hand to boost your sewing stamina.

    Pre booking is essential as there are limited spaces available.
