How many of you watched Fashion's Dirty Secrets? I will admit, I've not, simply because I don't have a TV or a TV license, so online catch up is out for me, too. Anyway, I am, as I am sure many of you are, aware that the environmental and human cost of our clothing is huge. Fast, 'cheap' fashion is killing our planet and us.
The clip above focuses on the production of cotton, which to many is often considered a better, more eco-friendly solution to manmade fibres but all have their problems. Cotton uses vast amounts of water, acrylics are poisioning our seas, bamboo is as with many textiles, processed with harmful and toxic chemicals, and lets not even get into animal fibres...
So what can we do about it?
There is no quick fix but there are small things each of us can do to help, just a few small changes in habit and some advanced thinking and we'll all be on the right track to reducing our impact on the planet
Over the next few days I'll be sharing with you steps you can take to help tackle the problem on a personal level.
