Please read our policies before booking your course.
Classes are subject to pre-booking only unless otherwise stated. Please make sure you arrive on time for your workshop.
Access to the studio is via electronic key fobs, held only by those renting studios within the building, as such we ask that all students wait outside at the blue doors (Orchard Street entrance) until the tutor comes down and collects you.
It is important that you arrive no later than 5 minutes before the start of the class so you can be given access to the building. Later comers can not be admitted so it is vital you arrive on time.
Equally, the door will not be opened until 5 minutes before your class so please don't think you've been forgotten or message asking to be let in, time beforehand is my set up time.
Please be aware that the studio is up a flight of stairs and there is no lift, which means it is inaccessible to wheelchair users and those with limited mobility, I am very sorry about this and obviously if there was an alternative I would offer it.
Sadly, rents and rates of ground-floor spaces in Swansea are unaffordable and not something my business can cover if I want to continue.
If, however, you have a group that would like to attend my classes and have access to a space I am happy to see if we can arrange something, please get in touch.
Refunds & Cancellations
Refunds are not given if you are unable to attend, forget or otherwise miss a workshop you have booked to attend. If you are unable to make your classes you can transfer your booking to a friend or family member providing you inform us, in writing including the name of the new attendee at least 24hrs in advance.
In the case of Stitch Socials and other workshops that repeat regularly, we are unfortunately unable to transfer missed sessions to another date if you can not attend the session you have booked onto.
If in the event a class is insufficiently filled, we reserve the right to cancel. You will be entitled to a full refund.
In order to ensure that the correct amount of materials are supplied for those booked onto a workshop, bookings will often be closed 3-4 days before the date of the class, so it is essential that you book as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment.
Should a class be cancelled or missed by me I will always attempt to reschedule or offer a full refund. Notice, where possible, will be given of any cancelled classes, however, be aware this is not always possible. I do however reserve the right to cancel any class at any given time without notice.
If it is felt your behaviour, either in person or via messages is threatening, aggressive, impolite, discourteous or disrespectful I reserve the right to cancel or refuse your booking at any time. It is at our discretion whether or not you will be refunded.
Where needed the proper authorities will be informed.
Safety & Conduct
At the start of each class, your teacher will run through the health & safety considerations, fire safety policies and expectations of behaviour & conduct during the class.
We expect all students to conduct themselves in a pleasant and polite manner towards the tutor and other students. It should go without saying but verbal or physical aggression, either in person or via any form of messaging, will not be tolerated under any circumstances, if you can not behave appropriately you will be asked to leave. Failure to leave when requested will result in the staff calling the police.
At Sew Swansea we take theft very seriously. When each student is booked in at the start of the class the machine and equipment they are issued are logged - we understand that sometimes things get lost so please inform your tutor if items from your kit box go missing so as not to be billed for the loss.
Swearing - some people don't like swearing. I am not one of these people. Swearing is allowed and will happen in my workshops. Swearing at other people, to be rude, aggressive or intimidating is not allowed, but general, 'converstaional' swearing is. We're all adults so it's all good.
Don't like swearing? Then, quite simply, we're not the studio for you.
Risk of Injury
Sewing involves a lot of sharp pointy dangerous things in the form of needles, pins, scissors, seam rippers, wires, electricity and then there are the pointy crochet hooks and the potential for tripping or strangulation of yarn which all present a risk of injury if not used correctly. By booking onto any of the classes available through Sew Swansea you are agreeing to take responsibility for yourself and your actions, to listen to the advice of your tutor and generally don't be a dick.
Your personal belongings are at all times your own responsibility and not that of Sew Swansea or any tutors working on their behalf.
Bags should be tucked away so as not to present a trip hazard and not left on the tables while you are working.
Classes can only be booked and paid for through the website, we do not accept payments in the workshop. Payments are taken via PayPal. Please make sure your Paypal details are up to date or that you include current contact details; email and/or phone number in the 'notes to seller' section should we need to contact you in the event of class cancellation. If you do not have a Paypal account a private invoice can be sent to you with our bank details for a BACS payment, please get in touch if you require this payment method.
I do not take payments over the phone.
Children and classes for children
We no longer run children's classes and children are not permitted to attend our adult workshops.
Forefit of your booking
It is your responsiblity to have read in full our workshop policies and the class description. If you book a class and violate or contridict any of our policies you will be asked to leave and forefit your fee in full. This indcludes aggressive, hostile and otherwise negative behaviour be that in person or via text based communitcations.
Please also be aware of what you are booking onto, each class is carefully planned and prepped and the content will not be changed because you fancy doing something else.
